Same footprint as a standard 20ft, 300mm taller inside. That margin is the difference between a conversion you can stand up in after lining and insulating, and one you can’t — which is why nearly every 20ft container home, office or studio starts as a high cube.

Worth knowing
20ft high cubes are less common than 40ft high cubes and carry a premium because of it. If the extra length is usable, a 40ft high cube is often the better buy per cubic metre.
Height warning
2.90m external. Measure your approach for overhead clearance — gates, carports, verandah edges and power lines catch people out far more often than width does.
